Pool Hours and Rules

Pool Rules


The TYC Pool is only open when lifeguards are on duty.


Please obey the posted pool rules and directions of the lifeguard.


The pool will close and all swimmers must leave the pool at the direction of the lifeguard if a thunderstorm approaches the area.  If you can hear thunder, the pool will close.


The pool will be closed if it is raining.  If it clears we will try to reopen as best we can.


The pool will open June 23, 2023 and close on Labor Day.


FREE SWIM hours are as follows:


Sunday 11:00 - 7:00

Monday 11:00 - 7:00 

Tuesday 1:00 - 7:00 

Wednesday 11:00 - 6:00 

Thursday 1:00-8:00

Friday 11:00 - 7:00

Saturday 11:00 - 7:00   


TYC Pool Operating Policy as required by the RI Department of Health:


a) any person with an infectious and/or communicable disease shall be prohibited from utilizing the TYC swimming pool, including persons with open lesions, blisters and/or cuts or rashes;

b) Spitting, spouting water, and blowing the nose in the TYC swimming pool is prohibited;

c) Running, the boisterous, or rough play in the swimming pool, and/or surrounding areas is prohibited;

d) Pets and other animals in the swimming pool except for seeing-eyed dogs accompanied by a blind person are prohibited;

e) Diving into the swimming pool is prohibited;

f) A cleansing shower prior to entering swimming pools is required;

g) Food and drink within the swimming pool enclosure is prohibited; and

h) such other provisions as the TYC or lifeguard on duty may deem necessary

Swim Lessons

Swim Lessons at TYC


Join us this summer for swim lessons at our beautiful harborside pool. Lessons are provided by certified swim instructors and are offered in an extended single session throughout the summer.


Tiverton is a beautiful seaside community with abundant spaces to enjoy a variety of water activities. The Tiverton Yacht Club aims to support our local and surrounding communities with access to swim lessons for both TYC members and non-members.


Lessons will begin on Tuesday, June 27th, and run through Tuesday, August 22, 2023.


**There will be NO lessons on Tuesday, July 4th.

*Non-members are invited to use the pool during their assigned swim lesson. The pool is designated for TYC members for recreational use.

Class Descriptions


The TYC Swim Program focuses on developing and improving each student’s skills by providing them the opportunity to learn and master each swim element before moving on to the next. Students are able to receive individualized support in a group format to develop competencies to help them to feel safe and confident in the water.


All instruction is under the direction of certified swim instructors.  


Children (Ages 6 months and up) will be assessed for their current level and spend time learning these water safety and stroke fundamentals.

Meet the Staff


Head Swim Instructors and Lifeguards: 


Wendy Turcotte:

Wendy lives in Tiverton and she has been working at the TYC for 30 plus years. She is a Red Cross certified swim & water safety instructor. She has taught swimming to all ages and skills. She is also a Red Cross lifeguard, and CPR & first-aid certified.


Amy Teixeira:

Amy lives in Tiverton and is going on her 30th year working at the TYC. Before that, she was a memberof the TYC since the age of 4 . She started as a steward and then  became a lifeguard and swim instructor. During the non-summer months she is a Health and Wellness teacher at Westport MIddle/High School, as well as the middle school boy's soccer coach. She also still plays in a couple of "old lady" soccer leagues.



Lifeguards: 


Lily Pichette:

Lily lives in Westport Ma. She has been working at the TYC for 3 years. She is a sophomore at UMASS Dartmouth studying pyschology.


Chloe Crawford:

Chloe lives in Westport Ma.  This will be her third year working at the TYC. She will be entering her senior year at Bishop Stang HS. She does soccer, swim, and track and field. He interests in majors for college consist of Forensics Science/Chem and Pharmacology and Toxicology.


Ella Reid:

Ella will be entering her senior year at Moses Brown. She lives in town and has been a member of the TYC since she was born (16 years). She went through many years of swim and sailing lessons. She enjoys playing soccer and she's hoping to go to medical school to pursue her dream of becoming a pedicatric cardiologist. She's entering her second year as a lifeguard at the TYC.


Maddy Bashour:

Maddy lives in Middletown RI. She will be entering her junior year at Bishop Stang. She is a swimmer . This will be her second year as a guard with us.


Anecia Collins:

Anecia lives in Fall River and  is going to be a senior at Durfee in the fall. She is a member of the volleyball team and has been playing for 6 years. This will be her second year as a guard at the TYC.


Kasey Curran:

Kasey lives in Fall River Ma. and will be entering her junior year at Durfee High School. She plays field hockey, ice hockey, and track. This will be her first year as a lifeguard at the TYC.


Emily Curran:

Emily lives in Fall River and has just finished her senior year at Durfee. She played field hockey, ice hockey, and softball in high school. She was a captain for all three sports. She plans to go to college to major in Elementary Education. This will be her first year as a lifeguard at the Yacht Club.
