Welcome to the Tiverton Yacht Club.  We are a small family oriented yacht club on the Sakonnet River in Tiverton, Rhode Island.  If you have a love for the water, for boats and for down to earth friendly people, you have found the right place.

Carnegie Hall, here we come!

Rows of chairs were placed in a semi-circle near the front of the second floor of the TYC last night. Speakers were located on each end of the designated stage where youngsters of all ages sang and danced to their heart's content.

It was the annually Junior Talent Show that featured Craig Rachupka as master of ceremonies and Callie Moran as the disc jockey.

Callie opened the show with a roaring Getting Jiggey, that brought many youngsters to their feet.

There were about twenty youngsters who participated. Many of them performed dances in the rock or hip style.  Several of them stood out for different reasons. Lowe was dressed in a Charlie Chaplin outfit complete with a large mustache and greed glasses.  Loewe did a comedy act which was amazing as to all the jokes she memorized.  Charlotte sang to a quick paced song that Callie played. I watched her lips and they were in sync to the song that was played.  Aubrey and Brooke, the MC's daughters, wowed the crowd with their dance and song.

While more than a hundred guests relaxed either on the deck or sitting in view of the pool, I played the town crier and went around announcing the Talent Show would start in ten minutes.  To my happy surprise, over 75 people came into our theater venue and cheered the youngsters on. It was nice to see so many of the young parents encourage their children. At the end of the hour show many of the adults joined their children in a finale dance on the stage.

One of the final acts drew most of the applause. A brother and his sister brought their keyboard. Neahuel Armenomz played Cantina Bend. His sister, Syai, entertained with a powerful rendition of Cinderella Waltz. I am sure that these two members will appear in next year's show.

About fifteen years ago, my late wife, Dee, wanted to give the TYC kids a chance to showcase their talent. AS the director of a day care center, Dee valuated the younger set and wanted adults to appreciate and understand their talents.

Dee started the Talent Show while we were still living the summers under a tent. The acoustics were poor but the enthusiasm of the youngsters was enough to give her the commitment to making this an annual event. For the past six summers since her death, I have carried on her tradition. This year's show is one of the best!

A special thanks to Craig who moved the show along and to Callie who chose the songs that brought the kids to the feet with smiles on their faces!

Thanks to all who were there tonight.
