More than 75 club members attended the TYC Annual Meeting held last Monday night at the clubhouse. The hour long meeting featured reports from the committee chairs, the passing of a by-law change and the election of six members to the board of directors.

Commodore Phyllis Ibbotson recapped the events of the past season focusing on sail training and the great participation for the Thursday night socials.

She was followed by the committee chairs who informed the membership of the activities that brought great response from the members during the summer. These included sailboat racing, Junior Dance, Junior Talent Show, Pirate Day, windsurfing and weekly themed social that attracted 125 members every Thursday night.

The by-law change was a house cleaning matter concerning the Pool Committee. The change now verified the pool committee to the list of standing committees.

As emcee for the event, I read the nominating report which was approved unanimously.

The six new directors elected for a three year term commencing today are:

Greg Jones, Wayne Karzenski, Patrick Lattuca, Michael Mills, Frank Mruk and John Schlesinger.

I congratulated Amy Cooper and Kristin Dalbec who retired. Each served three three years term and worked for the club, Amy as Membership Chairman and Kristen, a director at large who assisted with many important projects.

Under new business I brought up the Brick Sidewalk project that is ready to be implemented. As we speak, a truck carrying 45 engraved bricks is on its way from Florida and should arrive here this week. Our intention is to install these bricks soon and it is my intention now to remind all members that they still can buy a brick for $100 and it will be included in the walk next spring.  Please email me.

I recognized Joanne Reuther for her dedicated work as secretary and Jennifer Escher for her outstanding work in communications on our website. Also made sure that I had my picture taken with Jenn for this email!

In her applause winning social report, Lori Boivin announced that there will be a Halloween Party at the club. Please consult the website for information.

Although motion adjourned was made at 9:05 pm, most of the members stayed on enjoying refreshments and the friendship of all who were in attendance. The night was a celebration for all the good times that were held here last summer and a show of enthusiasm for a more exciting summer next season. Until then, I thank you for your best wishes and hope, God willing, for another good year.

But wait! There’s more!

There's the Halloween Party!

A Sail Training Christmas Party!

A January Social!

Etc.!

Thanks,

Jim Rogers
