Seven Junior Members of the TYC participated in the annual Junior Talent Show last night. The event was held at 8 pm in the first floor of the club. Guests stood in a large semicircle as Craig Rachupka, the master of ceremonies, introduced the talented participants.

There were three singers, Colton who did a Karate demonstration, and three who performed acrobatic acts.

Brooke Rachupka, the six year older,  drew the most applause  as she sang two songs that opened and closed the show.

In 1995, Dee Turcotte whom I would marry in 1998 and I presented a Musical Review here. Dee’s daughter, Rebecca and a few theatrical students from Connolly High School put on a talent show that would rival a professional revue. We did this for three summers. One of the singers was John Dias, a Tiverton native who would go onto New York Broadway plays staring in Jersey Boys and currently touring in Beautiful after a long Broadway run in that play.

So it was probably about 1999 that Dee and I started the Junior Talent Show here at the TYC. My late wife, Dee Rogers, wanted to give the young people a place to show their native talents in a friendly setting. As I share her mission I wish to see this Talent Show continue to be a summer tradition at the TYC.
